About Carolyn
I don't think of myself as 'a photographer' or 'an artist'. I don't have any one philosophy. I don't even know for sure where my artwork comes from because sometimes the results are a complete surprise to me.
I'm really just here enjoying the process and learning as I go along. My real job is to remember to be grateful for being in a position to do something I love and having the means to share it.
Artist Statement on 'The Faces of God'
There's no real statement intended here, except perhaps the concept that without the wonderful diversity of our visions throughout time and around the world, there would only be one picture in the show.
The Process
Digital art, photo collage, photo montage is a relatively new process. Starting with the inspired darkroom of Jerry Uelsmann to the digital darkroom of today, the idea is simply to make new collaborative images out of multiple individual ones. "The Faces of God" pieces incorporate images of both famous and unfamiliar works of art each depicting a personal but distinctly cultural vision of God. The final image may contain anywhere from four to twelve individual photos, my own renderings and multiple photoshop manipulations. Some of the original images were publicly available, some donated, some purchased but mostly they are my own. Thankfully, doing this kind of artwork finally made keeping all those thousands of photos on my computer worthwhile! If you have any comments, are interested in purchasing an image or would like me to do a similar project for you, please feel free to email me: |
